Summer Wedding Do’s & Don’ts

With June right around the corner, it’s only right that we here at PlanningSavvy write about a couple Dos and Don’ts for summery weddings! Our number-one biggest DO when having a summer wedding is to make sure that your guests are all protected from the suns harmful UVB and UVA rays. Make sure your guests are properly sprayed down with at least an SPF 50 if the day’s activities will be scheduled for the out doors. Sun protection is the most important aspect of sun safety, but don’t forget to have your guests re-apply every two hours!

With this comes a big DON’T, please do not time your wedding midday, when the suns UVB and UVA rays are the strongest. Overheating and sunburn can cause some cranky guests! Its best to avoid this is by planning the wedding around the reception dinner at sunset. This keeps your guests happy and in the mood, as well as sunburn-less.

Another great DO for a summery wedding would be to keep yourself and your guests cool and hydrated, at all times. Make sure there is a place for your guests and yourself to run off to with air-conditioning or shade. You can also make sure your guests stay cool and hydrated through the ceremony by having the usher pass out small ice-cold hand towels and water bottles.

But please DON’T forget the hardworking people that made this day happen! Make sure that your vendors are comfortable for the wedding as well. Make sure they are properly hydrated and cool, as well as protected from the sun on this special day!
